Out of a whole possie of Smiths, which do I plump for? James Saby SMITH, born Biggleswade, Bedfordshire 1860, married 1st time London 1882, immigration records in Antwerp Belgium 1892, returned to some 'roots' in Doncaster by 1911. Horse dealer, trader and slaughterer! 20 children and untold grand children (But not to be confused with another James Sabey SMITH, born 1870 Huntingtonshire who also ended up in Doncaster.) No, never confusing...

I'm researching the Smith Family of Lancaster. The Family come into being with John Smith born Kendal 1830, i can follow the family through to the present day. The female lines can go back to mid 17th cent. However reaaly struggliong with John Smith (1830) his parents appear to be John and Mary. 1841 census lists Johns granparent as Thomas Clemmy. But the parents are missing from the list. Any help would be appreciated. Steve

My grandfather was George Alfred Smith (Hyam his stage name.Music Hall comedian) Born 1874 Manchester. His Father Joseph who lived in Harrowby street Manchester in 1881.Sometime between 1882 and 1889 Joseph must have passed away.Joseph's Father Peter Smith born Cheshire was a Professor of Music. I am trying to trace what Happened to Joseph born 1854.He may have worked on the Railway.I believe George had a brother William Henry Smith.Have not been able to trace him.I would welcome any advice how to trace maybe a Railway death as Joseph's wife Jane was a widow in the 1891 Census.

I have been looking for my Smith relations with out any luck for a number of years, this is my last chance: Are there any family relations to the folloeing Smiths,Pos in Lancashire: Fred/Ethel/Danial/Blanch/Eliza/George/and Evangelist Smith ?.

To Sue Greenwood Unfortunately I can not provide you any information about your family. But, being far away from England is not such a big problem and it does not really seriously restrict your search. I live in Chile (South America) and I have never been in England but I have been able to find a lot of information in sites free of charge. So much that I have been able to send, a few days ago, a large list of ancestors (starting circa 1811) and an interest statement to this great site which I hope will be uploaded at a future date. What I am trying to say is go ahead, you can do your search from anywhere in the world. Personally, I have found 12 children of my great great grandfather and many descendants of them. Do not get discouraged by distance. Good luck in your search Carlos Smith
