William SMITH. her father (1756-1835), an active liberal politician, pronounced Abolitionist and Unitarian, was born on 22 Sept 1756 at Clapham, south of London, the son of Samuel Smith.

In 1813 Wm Smith challenged the established Church, and was responsible for championing the Bill which, for the first time, made it legal to practice Unitarianism.
