born Frances Smith in 1788, one of ten siblings.
Daughter of
Frances nee Coape, and William SMITH of Parndon, Essex.

William SMITH. her father (1756-1835),
an active liberal politician, pronounced Abolitionist and  Unitarian, was born on 22 Sept 1756 at Clapham, south of London, the son of Samuel Smith.

In 1813 Wm Smith challenged the established Church, and was responsible for championing the Bill which, for the first time, made it legal to practice Unitarianism.

The 1880 US Census records that M.O. Smith, a Farmer (b.Sth Carolina c1842) and his family were resident in Lee, Mississippi. An IGI record of Milege's birth, names his father as John SMITH

1st Prime Minister of Rhodesia In Office 1965-1979
born 8 April 1919 in Selukwe, Southern Rhodesia (now  Zimbabwe), Africa.
Son of
John Douglas "Jock" Smith
(migrant from Hamilton Scotland 1898)
and Agnes Hodson
(from Cumbria England).
Siblings:
sisters Phyllis & Joan.
